Alexander Saslavsky


  • Saslavsky, Alexander was born on February 8, 1876 in Karkoff, Russia. Son of Michael and Anna (Gantz) Saslavsky.

  • Education

    • Studied violin in Russia under Gorski, in Vienna under Professor Gruen. Graduate Vienna Conservatory of Music, 1893.


    • Soloist, concert master and assistant conductor, New York Symphony Orchestra, 1893-1818. An organizer, 1904, and concert master 4 years, Russian Symphony Orchestra (resigned). Conducts string quartette in own name.

      Devoting time to chamber music and teaching, Los Angeles, California, since 1918. Besides Colorado series in summer, gives two series every winter in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Conductor People’s Symphony Orchestra, 1922-1923, Bohemian Club Symphony Orchestra, 1921, Symphonic Ensemble of San Francisco, since 1923.
